Loho, there is a really boring book you might want to struggle through:

"Round Ireland in low gear": Author: Eric Newby. The public library may have it.

Not doing the boring Irish book and the gal's tale about Ireland has about set me off NOT to do it. Best times I have had...........is when I didn't know what I was getting into. Not that planning isn't important, it is foolish not to. One thing I do know........not spending half my time taking pictures or logging all my memories on a web page, I just aint that interesting, bummer to me.

For some good discussion and reviews on panniers vs trailers go over to crazyguyonabike.com. You'll find everything and more than you ever wanted to know. Same with the stoves.

I use a Whisperlite and can boil 2 qtz of water in about 2 1/2 minutes literally. I also have used a BOB trailer for several years and love it. My bike doesn't really have the frame for racks/panniers and the BOB works great as long as you pack it well (heaviest stuff at the bottom and rear) There is also the ExtraWheel, but from what I've read, they don't have the durability for the long haul as the BOB. They do have other advantages though that may be better for the type of touring you want to do.
